First things first, my blog is not about UX patterns, Design Systems and aesthetics… or even how user research can change your life, your business or your organization.
It´s about content and how content can be used as design material.
It´s about real work dilemmas, lessons learned, mistakes made. It´s about getting squeezed and survive and in the mean time trying to get insights on how to make life simpler for us all. The users.
It´s also about how long distance cycling and competitive sailing join the UX cocktail. A strange blog right?
The punch line of this inaugural post it´s bit raw, but it´s probably the 3 most relevant facts i learn in the past years.
- IT department are your best friends – Yeah… sure they are! As long as you a are willing to sell your soul and go with the flow. I am not saying that it´s not a feasible partnership, it should be, and probably your life will be a lot easier, or maybe not;
- Aggressive competitors makes THE difference in adopting/or not a UCD process – Obvious, right! If your product or service can be bought elsewhere you better think, research, know and test your solution with your users/consumers so that their needs and pain points are known and addressed. Who know why right? Someone out there will do it for them, from a small startup to a major player, and soon, someone will be eating dust;
- Develop a deep understanding of when UX expertise, is a buzz word, a tick on a to do list – Being resilient is paramount, but not enough. The old aphorism – Perfect is the enemy of good comes into play. The point is sometimes good is also a very good friend of poor… usually is called a contingency.
